Solution for the Date Problem in Aspire Template

Posted by J.Naveen in

Sorry for inconvenience click for NUMBER OF WAYS TO ADD AJAX FUNCTIONALITY TO JSF

Most of the people are facing this date problem in the Aspire Templte, Actually the root cause of this problem is, the below link is not working properly
http://www.blogger.magznetwork.com/templates/mummys-note/changedate.js, thats why the browser is not able to get the changeDate function, so please follow these steps to resolve your Date problem.

Steps to solve:
First follow the ReadMe.txt which came along with the "brown-aspire-blogger-template.zip" file,

Here I am not able to write the tags, So I am made a screen shot please click on this image to see the step by step process, That image has greate quality.

Now save your template and click on the view blog link. If somebody wants only date they can change the last command from
document.write(day+month); to
document.write(day);
If anybody wants first month and then date means change the command from
document.write(day+month); to
document.write(month+day);

Hi i have done as u said but im getting error report like this

We were unable to save your template
Please correct the error below, and submit your template again.
Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The element type "div" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "
".

Hi archat,
Please look at the div tag because it is the problem with xml validation, even if you couldn't encounter that problem please follow this procedure
1 Open my blog(firefox is better)
2 Find this below line in the PageSource
"function replace_date(d){" and copy that full function
3 Now login to you Dash board and to Edit html option and find the same line in your html code, now select that full function and delete it.
4 Now paste this new function in your HTML so I think this time you will not face any problem

Hi Naveen,

I would like to seek your help on this template. I have a lot of problem with this and hope that you could help with with your expertise.

I have modified it a great deal but at some point, I cant still follow what you said in script. Sorry Im not a programmer and dont know where to find the script? Also, you could see in my test blog (http://personalblogmoments.blogspot.com/) that I have modified the sidebars. I still cant seem to find where the top-right, top-left, bottom-right and bottom-left images so I can place what I have customized. Also, I cant seem to find how to replace the tags in the menu (Home, About, etc) with icons. Last thing, I cant seem to place the go button in my search bar which i had made. Great deal of help from you would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Naveen,

I forgot also, I've been adding space in between lines so as not to make it look too crowded and tried line-spacing but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi minnie,
Your blog is looking very nice, you have done a greate job, Actually the aspire template has some problem to show post's published date with month in the image. Now I saw the test blog it doesn't have that problem.
Suggestions about space between lines: It looks good for top few lines, when you go down the text is not comming exactly on the brown line so it may disturb the user's concentration.
I didn't find the top-left and top-right If I find the solution I will post the comment.

Hi Naveen,

Thanks for taking time to see and check my blog. The matter of making the fonts in place of the line is not a problem but I would like the spacing between line to be much wider but I cant seem to know where to adjust it. As of the moment, yes I have taken the pain to make sure the date is right but I wanted the Month first before the date but cant seem to do it. I cant seem to understand what you suggested (sorry i only understand simple html on my own). Also, do you have any solution in placing icons in the menu and my problem with the search toolbar?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Naveen.
Im not sure if its just me, but that particular line of code you say we should replace does not appear in my XML template. For that reason, I do not know where to insert your suggested code.

can you tell me?

October 24, 2008 at 11:46 AM

Naveen - dont worry, I got it and it works perfectly.

Essentially, all I had to do was paste the SCRIPT CODE in paragraph #3 of your JPEG picture instructions (which can be easily copied from your PageSource via the View Source button), immediately below the BODY tag in my HTML.

Your instructions were slightly confusing for this novice, but parsing your HTML helped.

Thanks so much.

Mr. Naveen,

I, like so many others, am having difficulty with the date. I am hit-and-miss as far as html goes, but I've checked and double checked my transcription which is as you published.

I believe the problem is I haven't entered the second script in the proper place. I'm not certain what a 'body tag' looks like, but when I place it below

] ] > < /bskin >

I get the following message: "Your template is invalid because the tag 'div' appears inside of the tag 'head'."

When I place the script above that tag, nothing happens.

If you would, please tell me exactly where to enter the second script, and provide me with any other advice you may feel I need.

Thanks.

Naveen,
I figured out the date problem for the Aspire template. I clicked Settings and the Formatting Tab, and changed the Timestamp Format to include the day of the week (e.g., Monday, May 11, 2009). Immediately, the date was displayed on my blog page!

However, the "Blog Description" under the Title (in the Header) is STILL hidden. What do I need to do to get it to be displayed? Please advise, and thanks again.
